Conciergerie 4th arrondissement, Paris
09/25/02

Originally built as a residence, the Conciergerie is most famous for its conversion and use as a prison. It is infamous for its use during the Revolution to torture and house prisoners (up to 4000 at a time) prior to execution. Its most famous prisoner is Marie-Antoinette, who was held here prior to her appointment with the guillotine.

These photos were taken one day when we were wandering around the historic heart of Paris. We plan to go back to the Conciergerie and take a tour when we get the chance.
