Glasgow,
Scotland
11/10/02 - 11/13/02
These
are pictures that were taken as we wandered around Glasgow. The last
four are of Buchanan Street, a popular pedestrian street, lined
with numerous stores. Mackintosh's Willow Tea Rooms is
also found in this area.
The next series of
pictures is of Glasgow Cathedral, which is dedicated to St. Mungo.
The stained glass inside is wonderfully decorated not only with religious
themes, but also with the shields of various Scots throughout the years.
Directly across from the church is the St. Mungo Museum of Religious Art
and Life, which has an interesting collection of various pieces of religious
art, including Dali's Christ of Saint John of the Cross.
Below are images of
Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Glasgow School of Arts. Finished around
the turn of the century, it is still a working art school today. Unfortunately
we were not permitted to take photos during our tour of the interior.
The library and the furniture collection were amazing.
